I am so glad to be introducing my friend Emily Tareila to you today! She is an incredible human being, a great friend and a marvelous cook, but beyond all that, she is also one of my favorite artists.
I have been obsessed with her drawings since the first time I saw them, minuscule and intricate yet grandiose landscapes/whatever you want them to be. She also slowly developed a cell-photographic practice as I got to know her, and it’s full of gems.
Emily is originally from French Town, New Jersey and studied at Bennington College. You can now find her in her office at California College of the Arts if you need academic advising (which we sure all do!), performing at SF MoMA if you’re looking for professional artistry advice, or under a ray of sun for homemade biscuits and a meaningful conversation.
